What are the assets freeze restrictions?

Paragraph 6 (c) of Annex B of resolution 2231 (2015) requires all States to freeze the funds, other financial assets and economic resources which are on their territories that are owned or controlled by the individuals and entities on the 2231 List.

Paragraph 6 (d) of Annex B of resolution 2231 (2015) further requires all States to ensure that any funds, financial assets, or economic resources are prevented from being made available by their nationals or by any individuals or entities within their territories, to or for the benefit of designated individuals or entities.

There are exemptions to the assets freeze provided for by resolution 2231 (2015).

How long will the assets freeze restrictions apply?

Both these restrictions shall apply until the date eight years after the JCPOA Adoption Day (18 October 2015), or until the date on which the IAEA submits a report confirming the Broader Conclusion, whichever is earlier.
